Education Bradford, which runs schools in Bradford, has significantly improved the percentage of children in care achieving Level 4 in maths at Key Stage 2.

2007 England average 43% Bradford 43%

2008 England average 44% Bradford 49%

Education Bradford, which runs schools in Bradford, has significantly improved the percentage of children in care achieving Level 4 in maths at Key Stage 2. In 2006 and 2007, the percentage was the same as the England-wide average, but in 2008 it increased to five per cent above this level.

Ewen Godfrey, Education Bradford's education matters team manager, says targeted funds have played a major role in the turnaround. An extra educational needs allocation of £1,000 per looked-after child "gives schools the flexibility to use it to best meet the child's needs", he said.
