Council Tower Hamlets
Performance The percentage of looked-after children's cases reviewed within the required timescales. Years ending 31 March
Tower Hamlets Council is handling new and ongoing cases of children in and on the edges of care in a timely fashion.
Since 2006, the authority has maintained its position above the England average for having cases reviewed within the required timescales, with 99.1 per cent of cases meeting the target in the year ending 31 March 2009.
An unannounced Ofsted inspection that took place in February praised the council.
Describing the spot check, a council spokeswoman says: "They spent two days looking at records of cases, and observing and talking to social workers doing their jobs."
