2007 and 2008 Lancashire 100% England average 99% 

Lancashire County Council has focused on improving how it reviews child protection cases after staff felt procedures needed tightening.

Sally Allen, acting directorate safeguarding manager at Lancashire County Council, says: "We realised that our work on this hadn't been good enough given that these are some of the most vulnerable children and young people that we work with. Children subject to child protection plans should have 100 per cent of their reviews within the timescales set. The fact that we hadn't done this and were under-performing was something we had to change."
