The Hit the Ground Crawling sessions invite small groups of expectant fathers to spend a Saturday afternoon with mentor fathers and their babies. The fathers-to-be can discuss their thoughts and concerns and see practical baby care in action.
Why have they done it? The sessions help dads learn practical skills and give them an opportunity to think about what it will mean to become a father. Mo Dennis, the children's centre support worker who runs the group at Holly Trees, says: "These sessions are a valuable way for young fathers to think about their child, learn about partner support, child safety, and get advice about practical things such as feeding, changing nappies and sleeping."
