Dads-to-be build up childcare confidence

Project Hit the Ground Crawling
Funding
Costs include £300 per person to train a professional to deliver the programme
Purpose
To engage dads at a time when they are most open to support and information

Background Expectant fathers can feel sidelined before and after the birth of a child, which is one of the reasons the Fatherhood Institute developed Hit the Ground Crawling. The antenatal programme gives dads-to-be the chance to learn childcare skills from new fathers and their babies and is an opportunity for professionals to reach out to dads when they are most receptive to support and likely to be in touch with public services. Staffordshire tested the programme in several areas, including Burntwood where sessions were based at Boney Hay Children's Centre.
