Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs Grant in Aid Funding Programme

1 min read
What it is: Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs Grant in Aid Funding Programme exists to ensure that tax and customs systems are administered fairly.

Revenue and Customs knows that certain hard-to-reach sections of society are at risk of missing out on vital benefit entitlement information, so grants are administered to third sector organisations to engage vulnerable people.

How much is on offer: £1.5m is available for new projects in 2008/09. Funding will be awarded for up to three years and falls into the following three categories: up to £20,000 for locally based or small organisations, up to £80,000 for more significant projects on a wider geographical scale and up to £250,000 for major national programmes.

What it will fund: The money will support schemes that offer advice on how to access Revenue and Customs' benefits, including tax credits and child trust funds, and projects that improve the customer experience for hard-to-reach and vulnerable people. The programme is also interested in initiatives that provide the government with a better understanding of third sector service users.
