HEALTH NEWS: Scotland - Executive to pour cash into premises

Children in Scotland should be able to access more modern health premises following an increase in investment from the Scottish Executive.

Spending on GP's premises will rise from 41.7m in 2002-03 to 69.1m in 2005-06. The move aims to bring primary care, local authority and voluntary service providers under one roof.

Health minister Malcolm Chisholm said: "Most patients' contact begins and ends in their local primary care centre."

The investment is targeting disadvantaged areas as the executive addresses health inequalities across the country.
