Jennifer Brassington, deputy director of public health for Tower Hamlets Primary Care Trust, says: "Tower Hamlets is a diverse, multicultural, deprived inner city borough with a very young population. Action to improve the health of children includes seven Sure Start programmes, projects on breast and infant feeding and work around oral health promotion and childhood immunisations. We are also reviewing the roles of school nurses and health visitors. Our work with local schools includes a nutrition group for school meals."
