The PCT and Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council are working together to develop and implement a health inequalities strategy, which includes a priority area focusing on families, mothers and children. It will address priority issues including reducing infant mortality, low birthweight and teenage pregnancy and improving dental health. In Bolton, under-18 conceptions are concentrated in electoral wards that are among the most deprived 10 per cent nationally.
