62.3 conceptions per 1,000 girls aged 15 to 17 in 1998 (46.6 in England)

- 43.8 conceptions per 1,000 girls aged 15 to 17 in 2005 (41.1 inEngland)

- 6.4% of live births weighed less than 2,500 grams in 2004 (7.6 percent in England)

- 1.9 infant deaths under one week per 1,000 women in 2004 (five inEngland)

The latest figures show the conception rate in Thurrock has fallen by29.7 per cent - almost a third - since figures were first collected forthe strategy in 1998. The change represents 18 fewer girls conceiving.In 1998, 147 girls fell pregnant but in 2005 this number fell to 129.Thurrock's teenage pregnancy strategy concentrates on taking servicesdirectly to where young people are.
