53.6 conceptions per 1,000 girls aged 15 to 17 in 1998 (46.6 in England)

- 59.7 conceptions per 1,000 girls aged 15 to 17 in 2005 (41.1 inEngland)

- 7.3% of live births weighed less than 2,500 grams in 2004 (7.6 percent in England)

- 3.8 infant deaths under one week per 1,000 women in 2004 (five inEngland)

The conception rate in Tameside has risen by 11.4 per cent since figureswere first collected for the teenage pregnancy strategy in 1998. Therate reached its highest level in 2005, when 274 girls became pregnant.The previous year it had dropped to the original rate recorded in 1998,which was 216. This means 58 more girls conceived in 2005 than 2004.
