Health News: Funding - Lottery funds for healthy living

The Big Lottery Fund last week launched a 7m fund to persuade families in Wales to eat healthily and exercise regularly.

Public sector and voluntary organisations will be able to apply forgrants of between 250,000 and 500,000 from the Way of Lifeprogramme.

The fund is aimed at under-12s and their families. It will support threemodels: evaluating the best ways of boosting health through mentoringchildren; giving advice in home or community settings; and raisingawareness of health issues by linking relevant events.

Consultants Hall Aitken will help applicants identify what model theyshould use. Adam Clarke, project director for the programme at HallAitken, said: "The models will provide a framework for the project."

Applicants should contact Hall Aitken by 28 September. The applicationdeadline is 16 November.
