The infant death rate in Plymouth is higher than average for the South West of England's rate of 4.5 deaths under one week per 1,000 women. Across Merseyside the rate is 6.7 per cent, lower than in Liverpool. Infant deaths in Brighton & Hove are also higher than the South East's regional rate of 3.9 per 1,000 women.
