Merton - 25 infant deaths under one week per 1,000 women in 2005 (five in England)
In Rotherham, the number of infant deaths per 1,000 women has gone up by two since 2004, while in Ipswich it has gone down by nine. In Merton, south-west London, the number of infant deaths rose by nine to 25. In England, the average number of infant deaths fell by 184 between 2004 and 2005.
