Wear Valley - 6 infant deaths under one week per 1,000 women in 2005 (five in England)

Hillingdon - 28 infant deaths under one week per 1,000 women in 2005 (five in England)

Aylesbury Vale - 14 infant deaths under one week per 1,000 women in 2005 (five in England)

In Wear Valley, the number of infant deaths per 1,000 women fell by two between 2004 and 2005, while in Hillingdon it fell by three. In Aylesbury Vale, the number of infant deaths increased by nine during the same period. Across England, the average number of infant deaths per 1,000 women fell by 184.
