Handling Allegations of Abuse Made Against Adults Who Work With Children and Young People.

Social Care
The Department for Children, Schools and Families is consulting on additional guidance on handling allegations of abuse against those who work with children or young people.

This guidance will supplement that already included in Working Together to Safeguard Children 2006, which also outlines the procedures that must be followed when an allegation of abuse is made. The additional guidance is aimed at all employers that provide services to children and young people, and sets out the statutory framework and underlying principles of handling abuse allegations. It does not replace any current employment law.

It also looks at the allegations process, record-keeping and practical issues around exercising professional judgment. The consultation results will be published later this year.
