Safeguarding Children and Young People Who May Be Affected By Gang Activity.

Social Care Youth Justice
Views are being sought on guidance that will ensure the safeguarding of children and young people at risk of gang-related activity.

This guidance is intended to supplement the government's current Working Together to Safeguard Children guidelines, and states that child protection in relation to gangs should be preventative and responsive. Identification, referral and support for young people will be outlined.

It will offer good-practice guidelines for professionals responding to the needs of young people at risk of gang-related violence and harm, and will support the Every Child Matters outcomes. The guidance will explain the importance of partnership working and will recommend putting local processes in place for information sharing. The consultation results will be published in the summer.
