Gun Crime: Peer project set to launch in London

1 min read

The police-funded Impact initiative will target 16- to 24-year-olds in the borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. It is being run by Hammersmith & Fulham Community Gun and Violent Crime Group.

Michelle Edwards, gun and violent crime co-ordinator of the group, said: "This project is aimed at the whole community, but we are targeting 16- to 24- year-olds to become peer educators on gun violence. They will be trained in facilitation and interpersonal skills to develop outreach peer education projects in the community and with young people."

A series of events will also take place across the capital for London Peace Week, which started on Monday. The event kicked off with a "peace breakfast" in Southwark and will end with a walk in Wood Green.
