REGISTRATION
The GSCC's head of registration Gail Gibson and her team are preparing for a re-registration surge with up to 40,000 social workers due to renew in the next few months.
Social workers must renew their registration every three years and, if they miss the deadline, the consequences are serious.
"It is a legal requirement to be registered with the GSCC. If we do not get forms back on time then we act fast to remove people from the register," Gibson explains. "You cannot work as a social worker if your name is not on the register."
All social workers receive a reminder three months before their registration is due to expire and a final reminder a month before. Gibson's plea is, "don't leave it until the last minute".
