The Caring for a Child with Additional Needs project offered parents anadvice line, complete with a call-back service, and free informationbooklet. However, the project is now facing closure following theGovernment decision that its Parenting Fund should only give grants tolocal projects.
Natasha Benenson, head of direct services at the charity, said that theservice is a lifeline for the 29 per cent of lone parents who havedisabled children. "The information and support we provide can make ahuge difference to people's lives. With enough help, we can keep thisproject alive. We cannot let it fold," she said.
The 131,000 project's call-back service has already been stoppedand Benenson says that the rest of the project would close within threemonths unless a new source of money can be found.
