Over the next three years, the Carr-Gomm Society - a charity whichoffers a range of care, housing and other support services - will useits 94,529 award to set up an informal drop-in centre fordisadvantaged young people across Somerset.
People who are isolated, self-harm or have mental health issues and ahistory of drug and alcohol misuse can use the facility to buildconfidence and develop skills to deal with social situations and thetransition into adulthood.
Carr-Gomm Society fundraising officer Virginia Lawrence said the ideafor the centre was developed through consultation with young people."Receiving this grant will show them that their aspirations can come tolife," she said.
