FUNDING WATCH: Who's getting money and who's giving it - Caudwell Trust widens its remit

1 min read
A charity dedicated to helping children with special needs, disabilities and serious illnesses is calling for grant applications.

The Caudwell Charitable Trust in Staffordshire has been operating since 2000, offering grants to help kids in the county. But it is now looking to widen its remit and award funds across the UK.

The trust only grants to individuals for specific purposes. The money can be used for equipment, holidays or even school fees. Recent awards have funded a hoist to help a six-year-old boy with cerebral palsy get into the bathroom, a wheelchair for four-year-old Tilly Griffith (pictured), who has spinal muscular atrophy, and a holiday to Disneyland Paris for a 13-year-old and her family.

A Caudwell spokeswoman said the charity had been "exceptionally good" at raising funds and wanted to channel its cash into helping children who could not access funds from any other source.
