Funding Watch: Trusthouse Charitable Foundation

1 min read

What is it? The Trusthouse Charitable Foundation is a medium-sized, independent grant making foundation that aims to address local issues in areas of urban deprivation or remote rural communities in the UK. It makes grants that total £2m to a variety of different charitable projects every year and its programmes include small grants, large grants and fast track grants.

Who and what will it fund? Funding is available to community projects that aim to help with issues within urban or rural communities. The foundation classes rural areas as those ranked within the bottom half of the government’s Indices of Multiple Deprivation measure and urban areas are those ranked in the lowest 20 per cent. It funds three areas of work: community support; disability and healthcare; and arts, education and heritage. Not-for-profit companies, social enterprises and voluntary associations can apply for funding along with small- to medium-sized organisations that are addressing local problems in the community. The foundation is interested in helping projects like mentoring and youth clubs, family support services, employment training schemes and support programmes for young carers. Programmes that address homelessness, alcohol and drug misuse are also prioritised.

How much is available? The maximum amounts available are £10,000 for small grants, £30,000 for large grants and £5,000 for fast track grants.

What is the deadline? The Trusthouse Charitable Foundation runs a rolling grants programme so applications can be made at anytime throughout the year. Applications are then considered by the foundation’s committee in February, April, July and October.
