Funding Watch - The Pears Foundation

What is it? Through charitable donations, The Pears Foundation seeks to empower individuals, particularly young people, to become active members of their communities, by promoting positive identities based on education, social action and volunteering.

How much is on offer? In the past five years the foundation has committed more than £20m to charitable causes.

What will it fund? The organisation supports projects that help to promote a diverse and inclusive society. Examples include the Eastside Young Leaders Academy, set up for African Caribbean boys in east London, and a donation of £2m towards a specialist unit that will enable 50 children with autism to learn alongside students at the Jewish Community Secondary School in Barnet, north London.

Who can apply? Projects and organisations that promote understanding between people of different backgrounds and support vulnerable groups to achieve confidence, as well as faith groups that want to take a central role in promoting social justice.
