Funding watch: Keyfund gets 390,000 for licensing scheme

Who's getting money and who's giving it.

A youth-led learning charity that offers young people the chance to getfunding hopes to expand by developing a licensing scheme.

The Keyfund Federation has been awarded a 390,000 grant overthree years by the Northern Rock Foundation.

Last year 9,500 young people designed Keyfund projects and the new moneywill allow more to go through the process, says the charity's directorHannah Eyres. The cash will also help the charity become self-funding bylicensing its approach across England. Currently Keyfund operates in theNorth East, Cumbria and North Yorkshire.

The Keyfund trains children's professionals, including teachers, to befacilitators who can offer the young people they work with the chance toseek funding from the charity.
