FUNDING: Assembly calls for simpler processes

The London Assembly has called for funding organisations to simplify the applications process for, among others, youth and community groups.

Mike Tuffrey, chairman of the assembly's Economic and Social Development Committee, said: "We found that funding organisations both in the UK and in Europe were getting applications from the larger usual suspects that know how to play the game. But smaller community-based projects were getting lost, because of a lack of awareness or because the system is too confusing and time-consuming."

The report, Breaking down the Barriers, is the result of a year-long investigation by the committee.
