The Pennywell Youth Project runs a variety of programmes, including a one-to-one careers advisory service, a young volunteers programme and an alternative education project for young people at risk of exclusion from school.
A youth advisory group was actively involved in the design of the centre. Ten young people from the area set up the Us! group, and visited projects in Liverpool, Stockton and Berwick to look at their facilities.
The project received 500,000 from the Single Regeneration Budget, while the youth volunteering scheme will be funded by the Neighbourhood Support Fund.
