Children Now can reveal that the department's Extended Schools Prospectus will list five services that primary schools will be expected to offer, and five services that secondary schools will be expected to provide. The core services build on ideas set out in the department's Five Year Strategy for Children and Learners.
Primary schools will be expected to offer study support activities, parenting support opportunities including family learning, swift referrals from every school to other specialised support services, opportunities for childcare between 8am and 6pm, and targeted provision for particular groups such as children experiencing disabilities or special educational needs.
Secondary schools will be expected to offer a similar set of core services.
