At the conference, organised jointly by the Welsh Assembly and the sustainable transport charity Sustrans, 97 per cent of delegates said they supported measures to help them walk and cycle to school.
A spokeswoman for the Welsh Assembly Government said: "Since 1999, 14.5m has been allocated to projects across Wales such as widening footpaths, traffic calming measures, and pedestrian crossings."
