More than 100 pupils from Fairfield school in Heckmondwike will enjoy a new 4m facility including a hydrotherapy pool and a wheelchair-friendly outdoor play area. A spokeswoman for the Yorkshire council denied this went against the drive for inclusive education.
"This is designed to bring special schools into the 21st century, to ensure children with moderate needs are educated in the mainstream and those with severe needs are educated in special schools," she said.
