Education News: Looked-after children - Report calls for support inschools

Children in care think having someone to talk to and being given more support when they have problems would help make school better.

A report by the Commission for Social Care Inspection's children'srights director called About Education found that four out of 10children in care thought having "someone to talk to and help withproblems" would help make education better for them.

Children's rights director Roger Morgan said it was important to takethe findings seriously. "Children in care are more likely to havepersonal issues to cope with than the average child and it is importantthere is someone at school they can go to. Without making a big deal ofit, staff should be aware of problems that may occur."
