Education News: Extended schools - Camden revamps education division

Camden council is set to make radical changes to its education department in an attempt to drive forward its strategy for extended schools.

The north London council will combine its existing educational welfare, school inclusion and education child protection teams under a new inclusion and safeguarding service.

A head of service will be appointed on an annual salary of around 50,000.

The successful applicant will have a brief to improve attendance in schools, reduce exclusion and safeguard children.

Jo Lyons, assistant director of schools and students, said: "Part of the inclusion agenda is to encourage schools to become more extended, and the new service will fit in well with that agenda."
