Inspectors spent two years evaluating four pilot courses that were setup in 2003 as part of the Government's Aiming High programme. Theirreport, published last week, states that the most effective tutors hadrelevant, recent classroom experience and sufficient time to fulfiltheir role. But it says that a number of tutors failed in thisrespect.
The report says the Government should work with training providers toensure that the issue is resolved. It adds: "Training providers shouldensure all tutors and mentors are suitably qualified, experienced andfully trained for their roles."
