Education News: Minority ethnic pupils - Union to assessachievement grant

The National Union of Teachers is to conduct a major survey to gauge the success of the Government's strategy for raising the achievement of minority ethnic pupils.

The teaching union will work with the National Association for LanguageDevelopment in the Curriculum to conduct the first national poll ofEthnic Minority Achievement Grant teachers, head teachers and localauthorities. In particular, the survey will assess the educationalimpact of recent changes in the grant's funding.

A spokesman for the association said: "This will provide the firstopportunity to fully assess the impact of the changes."
