12.9% of SEN pupils in secondary schools were without statements in January 2004 (13.5 per cent in England)

0.24% of pupils in secondary schools permanently excluded in 2002/03 (0.23 per cent in England)

8.3% of pupils in maintained nursery and primary schools taking free school meals in January 2004 (14.2 per cent in England)

1.9% of pupils in maintained primary schools in January 2004 whose first language was known or believed to be other than English (11 per cent in England)

Gloucestershire has an SEN strategy that aims to reduce the number of children with statements. It promotes inclusion into mainstream schools and funding for statements has been delegated to primary and secondary schools.
