The new Disability Discrimination Bill should be amended to include schools in the list of public bodies that must publish a Disability Equality Scheme, campaigners have warned.
Chris Osborne, policy adviser at The Children's Society, said the Government had "no basis" to resist attempts to include schools in its proposals in the Bill.
"They are singularly the most important public sector body that have major influence on children's lives," she said. "There is still a long way to go to ensure a consistent approach to inclusion across the country in schools."
Disability Equality Schemes will set out how public bodies will promote equality for disabled people.
