The Government has reintroduced an Equality Bill that will establish a new Commission for Equality and Human Rights.

Sounds like liberte, egalite, fraternite! all over again Well, the egalite bit anyway. The Government has reintroduced a Bill that will establish a Commission for Equality and Human Rights (CEHR), a merger of the Commission for Racial Equality, Disability Rights Commission, and Equal Opportunities Commission, with an additional three work strands - sexual orientation, religion or belief, and age - to be added.

So the noble concept of equality has to be boxed into "work strands"?

That might make it mean something. The commission's functions relate to promoting and enforcing discrimination legislation under the six strands (race, disability, gender, sexual orientation, religion or belief, and age), and promoting human rights through the provision of advice and guidance to public authorities.
