No, it's the beginning of a sensible conversation about equality. Then we must discuss the proposed establishment of the new Commission for Equality and Human Rights (CEHR) - a non-departmental public body that will bring together the Equal Opportunities Commission, Commission for Racial Equality, and Disability Rights Commission. And more.

More what? Think migration and cross-border mobility. Think sexual orientation, religion or belief, and age. In the case of younger people (16- to 24-year-olds) think promoting civic participation and engagement, or tackling assumptions about the lack of ability and experience of younger workers.

What's the CEHR going to do? It's meant to be an access point for information, advice and guidance on equality and human rights issues.
