Campaigners have seized on concessions made by the Government as theBill passed through the House of Lords over the past few weeks.
They are confident that ministers will table amendments when the Billreturns to the House of Commons in the autumn for its third reading.
The Government is now expected to support an amendment which calls onschools to consult pupils on a their behaviour policy.
Speaking in the House of Lords, schools minister Lord Adonis said: "Ourview, having considered this also in the light of the discussions therewere on the Childcare Bill, is that we can move further. We agree withthe point that a discipline policy is central to a well-functioningschool, and the maximum possible engagement of the pupils in thatprocess is important.
