The Department for Education and Skills will provide funds to around 100schools that will have to work with local authorities to provide extrahelp to Black pupils, including mentoring and catch-up lessons. Thescheme will build on pilot projects at 30 secondary schools, mainly inLondon.
Junior schools minister Lord Andrew Adonis said: "This programme willwork with local authorities and schools to target additional supportdirectly at underachieving Black pupils."
