1 min read
Black Caribbean pupils significantly improved their GCSE performance last year with an extra 2.8 per cent achieving five or more A* to C grades.

Black African pupils also improved their performance with an extra 2.6 per cent achieving the top grade, while White pupils improved their performance by one per cent.

Meanwhile, a government-commissioned study has called for schools to be "scored" on their exclusion rates for ethnic minority pupils.

The report, Minority Ethnic Exclusions and the Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000, said local education authorities should report fixed-term and permanent exclusions by ethnicity for each school.
