Tony Blair said pupils would benefit if primary schools were linked toacademies in the same way that prep schools are linked to privateschools.
West London Academy is one of two existing "all-through" academies inthe country and caters for children between three and 19 years old.Principal Hilary Macaulay said the advantages to linking primary andsecondary schools were vast. "There is seamless sharing of resources andpolicies across the phases and there isn't really a transition fromprimary to secondary, it's totally fluid," she explained. "Also, parentsare very involved in the life of the school, and it doesn't just stop atYear 6, like it can do when children go to high school."
