It specifically supports education or health work with vulnerable groups of children and young people.
How much is available? There is no limit on the amount of money that a charity can request. However, it tends to award grants of up to £30,000 a year for a maximum of two years. There is approximately £150,000 available to distribute each quarter.
What will it pay for? Education funding will generally be given for training, educational equipment and activity-based learning leading to accreditation and sports equipment. The foundation is also committed to relieving suffering and supporting young people while they are undergoing treatment and care. Health funding will generally be given for medical equipment, care facilities, activity based holidays, proactive health awareness campaigns and hospices. It provides two types of grants: central grants for registered charities from the UK and Eire working with disadvantaged children and young people with the focus on those who are sick in hospital, who are homeless or in care or who have life limiting conditions and require palliative care; and sponsored grants which are made from donor-advised funds.
