Disability: Web site aims to liberate children

An online forum for young people with a disability goes live this Friday as children's charity Whizz-Kidz launches a new satellite to its main web site. The Kidz-Zone will include articles, information, film reviews and event details. This month's discussion topic asks whether independence is important.

Joanne Evans, one of the 13 young people responsible for developing the Kids-Zone web site, said: "I know from my own experience that young disabled people can find it a challenge to get about, and you don't always want a lift from your parents."

Whizz-Kidz launched the web site in response to the number of young people who had said how hard it was to meet other people with a disability and to find information on accessible social activities.
