The facility is part of a strategy to provide a comprehensive playservice for disabled children across Surrey. The strategy is beingspearheaded by the charity Disability Challengers and Surrey CountyCouncil.
Disability Challengers is to open two centres at the facility's site inFarnham. The first centre is a youth and leisure centre for young peopleaged up to 25 that will open in time for the Easter holidays. The secondis a play centre for children aged up to 13, which will open in lateautumn.
Ric Law, the charity's chief executive, said: "Conventional play schemesreplicate the feeling of disabled children being a minority and weakmembers of society. We're seeking to diminish that feeling."
