Social Care News: Epilepsy - Residential home to open in Surrey

A residential home for children with severe epilepsy is to open next month.

The National Centre for Young People with Epilepsy's new home will house33 children from across the UK, who will also attend the charity's StPiers School.

The centre, Geoffrey Howe House, will take referrals from socialservices, and the children will stay at the centre, which is named afterthe charity's first president, during term-time. The centre is part ofthe charity's 200-acre site in Lingfield, Surrey, which also has amedical centre and St Piers School on site.

Bob Haughton, chief executive of the National Centre for Young Peoplewith Epilepsy, said: "Geoffrey Howe House was built to replace outmodedaccommodation with modern facilities that can be accessed by studentswith complex needs."
