For the past couple of weeks, I've been taking part in the Cycle of Life project, which involves me cycling 1,500km across Africa to raise money for African conservation projects. The trip has been tougher than I expected but I've seen so much while visiting various projects along the route that I don't dwell on missing England too much, although I do miss home.

One project that really hit home for me was Children in the Wilderness, a project for children whose childhoods have been disrupted by life-threatening conditions such as illness, poverty and HIV/Aids. In some ways my life and that of some of the people I know is similar to those of the kids we met in terms of what we've faced in our lives. But our day-to-day living experiences are so different.

On this trip, I've had time to think about what I want to do with my life and how to help other people. I'm taking every day as it comes but this trip has opened my eyes to the opportunities out there.
