My Life: Roberta Roof 17, Consett, County Durham

Social Care
I was living in Blyth with my boyfriend but then became homeless. I had some family troubles with my nanna which resulted in us not speaking and made me feel upset. As well as being homeless, I had no family support. I went to a place called The Point where they helped me get in touch with my nanna to see if I could go back for a few weeks till I got sorted.

She agreed, so I decided to go back. The next morning I went to Derwentside Council and they referred me to a place called Centrepoint. I was put on their waiting list and after a month, in August last year, I got a phone call from the manager to say a space was available. I could move in that day.

I soon got settled and knew this was a new start and that my life would get back on track. While living in Centrepoint I put an application in for Stonham (housing association). I moved to Towers House on 3 December 2007 and have since gained valuable independence and support.
