CRIMINAL CHECKS: Capita to improve software systems

Following an independent review of software and systems, Capita must invest in extra capacity and maintenance processes to cut down on delays in processing criminal checks. The review found that parts of the checking process were previously carried out manually.

The contract does not affect the costs of applications, although the already-announced increases due to come into effect on 1 April will still go ahead. Standard checks will cost youth organisations 28, while enhanced checks will cost 33.
