Consultation on the Common Core of Skills and Knowledge for the children's workforce.

The Children's Workforce Development Council (CWDC) is seeking views on refreshing the Common Core of Skills and Knowledge for the children's workforce.

The non-statutory guidance was introduced by the government in 2006 and sets out the basic skills and knowledge needed by those working with children, young people and families. Areas include effective communication; child and young person development; safeguarding; multi-agency working and sharing information.

As part of its 2020 Children's and Young People's Workforce Strategy, the Department for Children, Schools and Families has appointed the CWDC to refresh the common core. This consultation aims to update the content of the common core to ensure it's relevant and easy to use.
